Athletic Training and Personal Training?
Ive recently decided I wanted to become a Personal trainer. I ran into ATCcertification which is athletic training. It isnt NCCA accredited. It is a free course. In order for me to get a job, do I have to get training from an accredited course. ATC is recently trying to becom accredited and many people have got certified from them. Yes I know the difference between Athletic and personal training. I figure this free course could give me a jumpstart then when I’m experineced in this feild I could get my certification for personla training. Ive decided to get that course by NCSF PTC which IS NCCA accredited. Any advice?
Really depending on where you wanna work will depend on your certification. It might help to actually scan the job market a bit and see what employers are asking for regarding your personal training certs. Some gyms offer their own training program but it only entitles you work at THAT gym. Check out monster.com or career builder…skim through the for hire listings and see what employers want from you. For what its worth…especially being the job market is still so limited…it might be worth your time to go ahead and get athletic and personal training certificates to cover a broader spectrum of jobs.
